An iconic, flexible brand world for an independent Bristol studio, positioning Patchway as the South-West’s operator of choice with a visual identity, voice and toolkit that scale from pitch decks to on-site environments and a rich, visual-led website.

The brief.

Establish Patchway Studios as the independent studio of choice for high-end TV and film in the South-West, drawing on easy access to Bristol, proximity to London and a gateway to striking urban, rural, coastal and period locations, through a bold, memorable identity built by industry professionals, for industry professionals. The brand needed to resonate from decision-makers to crew, enable future growth and roll out across digital, social, print and signage.

Our approach.

Beginning in 2023 we ran brand workshops, competitor and category research and a full audit to define positioning, messaging and tone. We built a brand idea of Patchway as the canvas, or frame, that brings productions together: flexible, bold and unmistakable, expressed through a modular mark, confident typography and an expansive colour system.

The icon drew on a patchwork quilt structure to form a distinctive P, developed with dimensionality to reflect the physicality of the site and its signage, supported by clear usage rules, hierarchy and a concise tone of voice: cohesive, connected, creative.

The results.

The new brand world gives Patchway a confident, unmistakable presence from first pitch to on-site experience, anchored by a richly visual, conversion-focused website. Designed to showcase productions and facilities, the site pairs bold imagery and motion with clear journeys for producers and crew: stage specs and amenities are easy to scan, enquiries and visits simple to start, and location and access information front and centre. Performance and accessibility were built in from the start, with a modular CMS that lets the team publish updates and case studies at pace.

Beyond digital, the identity flexes across print and signage so Patchway is always visible and immediately understood. The result is stronger recognition, tighter consistency and a platform that supports Patchway’s ambition to be the South-West hub for high-end TV and film.
